New design for SeeMySea!

A more efficient version

For his two years of existence, SeeMySea indulges in a little update!. New design for the homepage and new search engine

Seemysea partner of The Atlantic Multihull Boatshow

Concept

The idea

exchange your boats - share your horizons

Sailing a bit further, discovering new areas, fulfilling one's natural curiosity. Experiencing new sailing grounds: Mediterranean, US East Coast or Norwegian fjords...
What boat owner has never fancied the idea?

However:
Lack of time
forbids long cruises which would make it possible to sail beyond one's usual sailing grounds (15 days vacations don't take you very far).

Budgetary constraints can make it difficult to consider a boat rental.

Misgivings about sailing unfamiliar areas (weather conditions, tricky navigation, hazardous spots, etc...) can cool down one's enthusiasm.

When SeeMySea facilitates boat exchanges, SeeMySea members save plenty of time. Reaching a destination flying, driving or riding a train is the only period of time not used to explore a new destination.

It s a 'low cost' way of sailing anywhere in the world.

Compared to boat rental, depending on seasons and boat types, it can represent an economy of between two and five thousand euro.

And, above all, SeeMySea triggers encounters between pleasure craft owners who will certainly take great pleasure and pride showing others their boat, informing them about 'must see' spots, 'must do' things as well as possible sailing hazards.

The principle

Boat swapping, a free alternative to boat rental, makes one guest benefit from the unique experience of his host in his cruising preparations. It opens up prospects of traveling and encounters one could only dream of, in a safe environment.

SeeMySea creates a link between boat owners who wish to enter a swap system, worldwide. To join the SeeMySea network and become a member, boat owners must subscribe on a yearly basis.
Members can access all the contacts as well as various services to prepare cruises and encounters in the best of conditions. They can exchange boats anytime, anywhere, for any length of time (from an extended weekend to several weeks), and as often as they wish.

The house boat swap

Some of you are excellent sailors, but do not have, for various reasons, one boat at a particular time: professional skipper, boat sold or not yet bought, changes in life ...

Therefore, at the request of many members, we have opened the SeeMySea network to home / boat exchange.

A beautiful house in Guadeloupe in exchange for a beautiful boat in the Mediterranean, attractive, isn't it?

We ask, in this case, to complete a "boating resume" for the publicaiton of a house announce to proove the sailing experience of the participant.

The spirit

Whatever the size or the type of their boat, yachtmen who join SeeMySea share the same passion for the sea and sailing .

They are curious of others' culture and respectful of the maritime codes of conduct as well as the sites they discover. They enjoy sharing their experiences.

Boat exchanges take place according to a charter that puts forward the respect of others and concern for the environment.

Swapping

Boat swaps do not have to take place simultaneously. Therefore it is possible to meet one's partner to show him/her around with details on the way the boat works and possibly to spend one day at sea with him/her for everyone's moral comfort and information providing/gathering on the itinerary planned.

Two types of exchanges are possible:

- Boat exchange, each partner entrusts his/her own boat to the other for a given length of time.

- Exchange of hospitality, both partners deciding to go sailing together of both boats, successively.

Services

SeeMySea's ambition is to trigger as many boat swaps among yachtmen as possible and help them enjoy their voyage. With that in mind, SeeMySea proposes to boat owners the following:

A powerful search engine
to match requests and proposals.

A bi-lingual site
(French & English) soon to become multi-lingual with the addition of Italian, Spanish, German and Dutch versions.

Informative items in the technical and legal fields
of boat exchange (advice about insurance, liability, etc…)

Documents to download
such as model exchange contracts, inventory and supply checklists...

A listing of relevant web sites to prepare voyages and transfers.
